Coastal Music Camp, located on the campus of San Dieguito Academy, is a high quality summer camp for local instrumental music students in San Diego County with at least one year of instruction and entering grades 4th – 9th in the fall. Throughout the week we work on musicianship and performance skills through small group sectionals and large ensemble rehearsals.
On the first day of camp we do a simple audition to determine which students will play with the advanced group and which students will play with the intermediate group.
An optional Jazz Band ensemble is offered in the afternoon as an add-on option for an additional fee. Students must participate in the morning camp to be eligible for the Jazz Band ensemble.
Camp hours are 9 AM to 12 PM from Monday to Friday with Jazz Band from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. There is a 2 PM concert on Saturday to feature the students’ accomplishments for the week.
